Coming Soon: Professional Body Composition Analysis at GoldenTrainer Performance

Body composition analysis Cedar Rapids clients can rely on is coming soon to GoldenTrainer Performance

If you’ve ever stepped on a scale after weeks of hard training only to see the same number staring back at you, you already know the problem with weight alone: it doesn’t tell you what’s actually changing in your body. That’s about to change at GoldenTrainer Performance.

We’re excited to announce that we’re adding the TANITA MC-780U PLUS P Multi-Frequency Segmental Body Composition Analyzer to our Cedar Rapids studio — the same class of technology used in clinical and research settings, now available as part of your personal training program.

What Is a Body Composition Analyzer?

A body composition analyzer goes far beyond a standard bathroom scale. Instead of a single weight number, it uses a safe, painless electrical signal to estimate what your body is actually made of — muscle, fat, and water — broken down by body segment (arms, legs, and trunk individually).

This method is known as Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA), and multi-frequency versions like the MC-780U PLUS P are considered comparable in accuracy to advanced clinical methods such as DEXA scans and hydrostatic (underwater) weighing — without the cost, radiation exposure, or scheduling hassle of either.

What It Measures

In about 20 seconds, this device captures 31 distinct data points, including:

  • Segmental fat and muscle mass — see exactly how your arms, legs, and trunk are responding to training, not just your body as a whole
  • Basal metabolic rate (BMR) — understand how many calories your body burns at rest
  • Visceral fat rating — track the fat surrounding your organs, a key indicator of long-term health risk that BMI alone can’t capture
  • Metabolic age — a relatable way to see how your metabolism compares to chronological age norms
  • Phase angle — a marker increasingly used to gauge overall cellular health
  • Intracellular and extracellular water — useful for monitoring hydration and recovery status

It’s also FDA-cleared as a Class II medical device and auto-calibrates before every single use, so the numbers you get are consistent and repeatable week after week — not skewed by a scale that wasn’t zeroed correctly.

Why This Matters for Your Training Program

Most people chasing “weight loss” are actually chasing fat loss while preserving or building muscle — but a standard scale can’t tell those two apart. Someone who loses 5 lbs of fat while gaining 3 lbs of muscle sees almost no change on a scale, even though their body composition dramatically improved.

With segmental, multi-frequency data, we’ll be able to:

  • Set a true baseline before your program starts, instead of relying on weight and guesswork
  • Track fat loss and muscle gain separately, so progress shows up even when the scale doesn’t move
  • Spot muscle imbalances between limbs — useful for injury prevention and sports performance training
  • Adjust your program based on real physiological feedback, not just how a workout felt

This pairs directly with our existing coaching programs — whether you’re here for Muscle Gain, Weight Loss Coaching, Sports Performance, or General Fitness & Health — giving us hard data to back up the plan we build together.

What to Expect

Each reading takes about 20 seconds while standing on the platform, and results print directly to a full consultation sheet you can keep and compare over time. Nothing about the process is invasive — just a standard, safe electrical signal, the same kind used in body composition monitors worldwide.

Coming Soon to GoldenTrainer Performance

We’re finalizing setup now, and body composition analysis will soon be available as part of your training sessions at our Cedar Rapids studio. If you’d like to be one of the first to get a baseline reading once it’s live, book your consultation today or give us a call at 319-721-4922.
